We are delighted that seam collective are once again hosting our annual Instagram challenge for textiles enthusiasts all over the world and we’d love you to be a part of it.
If this is the first time that you’ve come upon this sort of thing, we will have a different textile prompt for each day of September for you to interpret in your own creative style. This builds up a broad picture of a variety of disciplines and creators, which join up to tell a story of where textiles are right now in our everyday lives.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a international award winning embroider or a hobby knitter creating garments for your nearest and dearest. It’s all part of the #SeptTextileLove rich tapestry!
The prompts are released in a blog post on 31 August or you can get all 30 a week in advance if you sign up to our free mailing list here.
This year’s prompts are selected by the members of seam textile collective and we will include some favorites from previous challenges as well as some new, thought provoking ones – we can’t wait to see how you interpret them!

Sharing Creativity and Gratitude through Yellow Hearts 💛
During the challenge, the members of seam collective will take it in turns to engage with your posts and share highlights. As we did in 2025, we will be using the new repost feature on Instagram to share our favourite three posts each day and show our appreciation using the yellow heart 💛. Our quiet way of saying ‘thank you’ and ‘we love your work’. The yellow heart is our symbol of appreciation — a shared gesture of creativity and connection.

How does #SeptTextileLove work?
During the month, you can respond to as many or as few prompts as you like. It’s important to remember that there are no right or wrong ways to interpret the prompt if it places a love of textiles at the heart of your post. When you post your interpretation of a prompt on Instagram please use the hashtags listed below, allowing an international community of textile enthusiasts to see your posts, comment on them, and the textile community as a whole to flourish and connections continue to grow.
Each day, a member of seam collective will repost three images or reels from the day’s prompts to repost on the seam Instagram feed with over 18,000 followers. As a bonus, it is a fun way to create content for your own Instagram feed and take a deeper look at your textile practice or hobby.
Hashtags
We at seam don’t want to miss anybody’s #SeptTextileLove posts but Instagram’s algorithm makes it harder to find all the posts for a given day/prompt so please can you use these exact hashtags:
- daily hashtags: #STL26Day1, #STL26Day2 etc – corresponding to the day’s prompts and where STL is short for Sept Textile Love,
- our usual hashtags: #SeptTextileLove and #SeptTextileLove26.
Also please don’t forget to tag @seam_collective!

Looking forward to seeing your posts in September!
