I usually like to start my ideas off with a mood board. It keeps me focused on the direction I want to take my work through a project. The key areas I want to explore whilst designing my shift dress are structure and pattern.

I want to add an extra element to the plastic I already make and think I could do this by introducing new materials to generate new patterns. I also want to look in to the composition of my dress and how I could possibly combine and compose different samples together.

As my plastic is usually quite thick and sturdy, the dress will be very structured. I’m going to have to think about how I put my dress together. Whether that is using many bits joined together to create the dress or whether I will use big flat sheets. Will the dress be wearable or will it just be for aesthetic pleasure? The exploring starts here…
