We have started meeting for a second time in the month – this is a more informal meeting for chatting about textiles/art/craft, our work and any problems we are having.  However, this time it was further discussions about our upcoming project (fingers crossed for our funding applications). We were also pleased to welcome two new seam members: Angie Parker and Julie Heaton, who we’ll introduce you to more in later posts.

For our second March meeting we met at Bristol Textile Quarter and arrived to receive a very friendly welcome from Emma.  We have been following Bristol Textile Quarter’s (previously Working Wool) progress and were excited to see a dedicated space for textiles.  Bristol Textile Quarter’s vision is to offer both an online platform and a physical space in which the local textile community can start to connect, collaborate and explore what a more resilient local textile economy might look like.  This fits brilliantly with seam‘s aim to focus on local opportunities and local production, and help the local business environment become a sustainable place to earn a living as a contemporary textile artist, maker or designer.

We wish Bristol Textile Quarter lots of luck with their new venture, and hope to work with them in the future.
