I’m happy and privileged to be Artist in Residence for the National Trust at Brean Down for the second year. This September will see the Somerset Open Studios and workshops take place in the fort at the end of the peninsular, followed by an exhibition at the beginning of October displaying work in situ by a group of artists who have been responding to its fascinating history. The locality is wild, exposed and rugged with the windswept fortifications at the tip. The atmosphere changes constantly with the seasons and daytime.

Our impact on the landscape, past and present, is the key theme running through my work, giving an insight into the history, leading to questions being asked about our legacy for the future.
For my part I’m spanning the decades in three installations by looking at ways to interpret the graffiti that spans over 100 years.

Sampling is underway!

And questions have to be asked how so many of our belongings appear on the coastline…
