Artist Statement for Warped and Wasted
‘This work explores the environmental and social impacts of consumer habits, particularly in fashion and textiles. Using packaging waste from shipped goods as its primary material, it reveals the hidden costs of products manufactured across various countries. By combining delicate transparent fibres with discarded plastics, the piece highlights overconsumption, material waste, and the fragility of global supply chains. The installation, made entirely from waste, encourages viewers to reflect on their role in sustainability and product lifecycles. Through transparent and opaque forms, it examines visible and hidden challenges, stressing that sustainable change requires diverse perspectives and collaborative approaches.’
