Artist Statement for Warped and Wasted

‘This new body of work is shaped by my ongoing commitment to sustainability. Created between the spring and autumn equinox – a natural period of transition and reflection – these pieces incorporate reclaimed coffee sacks, surplus yarn, and foraged materials. Slow, regenerative techniques, such as punch needle and crochet, honour both material and method, allowing the works to remain adaptable and recyclable. Drawing on ancient carvings, early forms of mapping, and the textures and shapes of the landscape, the textiles become soft inscriptions. Some sculptural pieces also function as habitats for pollinators, embedding ecological purpose into their form. These works offer a meditation on responsible making – with care for the earth, for tradition, and for what we leave behind.’
