The current version of A Visible THREAD is now open till 27 January at the stunning Wirth Gallery at Sherborne Girls’ School in Sherborne, Dorset.
You’re warmly invited to the Opening Night, this Friday 12 Jan from 5.30 – 7.00pm at Wirth Gallery, The Merritt Centre, Sherborne Girls, Bradford Road, DT9 3QN. Please RSVP to Lillie Ayres l.ayres@sherborne.com.
You’re also most welcome to visit at another time, but please email Lillie to book a slot. The exhibition is open from Tuesday – Saturday, 9.00 – 5.00pm.

One of many things that we’re thoroughly enjoying about our exhibition tour is having multiple opportunities to research and develop new work around the theme of A Visible THREAD. Some of us have also been experimenting with new ways to install our work. This means that, rather unusually for an exhibition tour, in each venue the exhibition is different, with different works, methods of installation and even different artists exhibiting!
Setting up the exhibitions also gives us the opportunity to get together in person, which we love!

The works in this iteration of the exhibition showcase an innovative range of textile materials and processes from eight seam members:
Angie Parker
Joy Merron
Lydia Needle
Nina Gronw Lewis
Lou Baker
Julie Heaton
Helen MacRitchie
Jane Colquhoun
We’re pleased to be able to share this short 11 minute video of four of the exhibiting artists, Julie Heaton, Lou Baker, Joy Merron, and Lydia Needle, talking about their work:
Many thanks to artist in residence, Lillie Ayres, for all her support and to Sherborne Girls’ for hosting us.
Hope to see you there on Friday!
Lou Baker
