Joy Merron and Lou Baker have had work selected for the Black Swan Arts Open exhibition. The exhibition includes work by 153 talented artists chosen from over 1000 entries. Every piece of art is for sale, with a top price set at £1000 to encourage collectors and first-time buyers to snap up works they love and investments for the future. Helen MacRitchie has a prestigious solo exhibition with Embroiderers’ Guild NSW. The show opening is on 3 September, she is giving an artist talk on 10 September, and she will be leading a workshop, Felt Lace, from 17 to 18 September.

Foraged Colour is a development of Linda Row’s vision of contemporary fashion as a closed-loop, sustainable, slow fashion industry, using locally grown and foraged plants and British fibres. Four textile artists; Gill Hewitt, Eve Kumari, Penny Wheeler, and Frances Westerduin, created unique handmade woven, non-woven and printed textiles from British wool and silk, from which garments were designed and constructed by Linda.

Don’t Ditch: Stitch or Swap for Sustainable Fashion Week 2022

Jane Colquhoun will be one of the experienced menders at an informal mending circle with a clothes swap at Planet Purbeck Festival, Corfe Castle, in a beautiful rural arts setting with views of the ruined castle. Visitors can bring along items to learn to mend, stitch and chat, or even just have a coffee and cake. For the clothes swap visitors are asked to bring along up to ten items of really good quality clothing or shoes.

Desiree Jeans will be the Knitter in Residence for Sustainable Fashion Week 2022. She will be designing swatches based on iconic Bristol landmarks and views, as well as teaching any beginners who drop in to knit. The swatches will be written and up and distributed freely to the beginners, allowing them to later create their first knitted garment of a Bristol-scarf by repeating the designs until it reaches the desired size.
